Avington is a Georgian stately home with grand wrought iron gated entrance opening on to the lime tree avenue, set to the side of the house. The front of the house, a classical portico of pillars, is surmounted by three graceful statues, Minerva, Juno and Ceres. The house faces West overlooking sweeping lawns to the lake. On the South side are two enclosed and very unique iron orangeries opening up to a partially covered pillared outside area.

The rooms inside are stunning. Gilded and painted, the Ballroom looks out through floor length windows to the lake beyond. The huge mirrors on all four walls reflect the light, making it a very impressive and spacious room. The Drawing Rooms we house are unique in decoration, with an Italian design, reflective of King Charles love for the designer Antonio Verrio. The King Charles Hall and Library are equally lovely, the Kings Charles Hall having hand painted trompe l’oeil ceiling and walls by Claremont in the 17th Century.

With its unique setting in the heart of the Itchen Valley and stunning interiors, many films have been shot at Avington. Including a Ruth Rendell mystery, films, documentaries, fashion shoots, advertisements, photography, etc. Both the interior and exterior are equally photogenic and offer a large variety of opportunities.
